About Me

Hello, my name is Russell Martin.

I remember being asked many years ago where I wanted to be in 10 years. I answered, “Following the smoke by day and fire by night.”

Since that point I have been a youth director, college ministry director, church communications director and worship leader. I met and married my beautiful wife, adopted four dogs and a cat, and moved to north east Texas.
In the most recent leg of my journey, my wife and I adopted our wonderful son Eli.

I can tell you that if you asked me 10 years ago where I would be, I would have never have dreamed all of that. All I know is that I keep trying to see where God is leading, and take the journey one step at a time.

One of the constants in my life has always been music. I can play many instruments but primarily I play acoustic guitar and piano. I have led worship for church camps, retreats, mission trips, ski trips, big groups, small groups, youth, children and adults.

I have released several CD’s. “From Me To You” is an acoustic songwriters CD. “Unfailing Love” is a 4 song full band EP featuring a new, reinvented sound. “Hopes, Prayers and Lullabies” is a piano CD written to help support our adoption process.

If I had to sum up my ministry in one statement that would be “To use my gifts to glorify God, and help others do the same.” I love working with youth bands and worship teams. I like helping others figure out ways to communicate God’s love in new, relevant ways. Maybe that’s through a new song, or a new website. I teach guitar and piano lessons, lead workshops and share my insights through my blog, forkintheroadmusic.org.

I would love to share my ministry, my gifts and my music with you. If you are looking for someone to lead worship for a week, weekend, or one night, I would love the opportunity. I would also love the opportunity to lead a workshop for your youth or adult praise team.
